Now that my halloween decorations are boxed up, my house is looking a bit more normal! Seems a perfect time to show off my new dining room and office space...
For the last few years we have used our dining room as an overflow/ office/ music studio/ kids play room. It drove me crazy every time I would walk in! So I came up with this brilliant idea! What if...we actually used the dining room....wait for it....wait for it....as a.....DINING ROOM!!!!
GENIUS!!!
I unfortunately did not take any before pictures of the dining room but do have a few of the formal room that I used as a music studio.
After a day and a half of painting the walls Glidden's Wood Smoke to match the rest of the house I shuffled the piano, computer desk, and dining table around to come up with this!
I didn't want to continue the yellow throughout the entire house so I decided to add in orange. It is a very bold color and seemed a bit intimidating at first but once it went in I fell in love! A funny thing too, I was reading on Overstock.com the psychology of color and found that orange is a great choice when wanting to create a room with warmth and positive energy as well as health and happiness. What better room for that than the dining room! Be sure to click on the link to find out what the colors in your home represent! The curtains were purchased at Target.
The old lampshade was a plain brown color so I painted it orange to fit right in! The milk pitcher and glasses were given to us by my husband's grandfather. I was so happy to showcase it on the buffet table!
The picture doesn't do it justice but there is a beautiful turquoise tray on the table that my mom made. I am going to be eventually adding more splashes of turquoise into the room.
And my office...while it may seem crazy and cluttered to some I find it inspiring and fun! I am currently looking for fun baskets to place on the bookshelves.
I am also looking for a fun rug for this room but can't decide on anything just yet.
These curtains are from Target and have hints of gray to match the walls. Pillows will eventually go on the chairs to add more color.
Only a few more rooms to go and this home makeover will be finished!!! Although, with back to back holidays it may go into the new year!
Oh and did I mention it's snowing today???? Woo hoo!!!!!!
