A Woodland Christmas

Christmas decorating took on a whole new meaning this year.  Burgundy ribbon and ornaments no longer fit into my new color palette.  So after digging out every box, making piles of what was to be thrown away and what could be salvaged, my house looked like a war zone!  It felt good to empty out four bins of Christmas decorations, while the salvaged pile got me excited to transform old into new!  Oh and did I mention how much room we now have in our attic?!?

My new decor from my recent home makeover was filled with a woodland theme, making it very easy to transition into Christmas.  The only snag was trying to find a way to hide the yellow but keep the turquoise.

I was strolling the isles of Target a few weeks ago and came across white and red chevron table runners.  I knew right away that these would replace the yellow curtains in my living room!  Turquoise and red were to become my new holiday palette!
I purchased two white table clothes and two table runners for the big window next to the fireplace.  Unfortunately, I bought the last two so I'm patiently waiting for more to hang up in my kitchen and sliding glass door!

There was no cutting, no sewing!  All I did was clip up the tablecloth and table runner together.  So simple!!!  I LOVE how they turned out!

I bought the large wreath at Target and smaller wreaths from Joann's Fabric and hung them with burlap ribbon.  I love the warmth it created throughout the room!

Decorating the mantle was my favorite part!  A white fireplace equals endless possibilities!

My mom made the "Merry Christmas" garland last year and what better place to display it!

I got the idea of the yarn trees from Pretty Ditty's blog.  These were fun to make and very quick!

This is the perfect spot in the house, sitting by the fireplace, wrapped up in a blanket, and watching the snow fall...if only it would snow!

Target has great woodland ornaments this year, as well as holiday decor to match!  I've decided walking into Target is like walking into Costco...you come out with more than what was on your list. It's pointless to fight it...

The red ornament is covered in bright red yarn to hide the old burgundy design.  This took only five minutes, if not less, to make!  The bird ornament is from Joann's and is on sale right now!

I found this fabric at Joann's and decided to use it to cover the yellow and burgundy pillows. The furry white pillow I found at Target, two for $12!

Simple decor above the kitchen cabinet

Every year I put up a village above the kitchen cabinets.  Normally, this is the dreaded task when decorating for the holidays but this went up without a glitch and didn't take hours!  Maybe it was that my amazing hubby was helping me!

I've been searching for new ideas for outdoor Christmas decorations and the one thing that continued to catch my eye was putting wreaths on windows.  It's not a new trend, it's actually been around for years.  I bought the wreaths along with the red ribbon at Target...are you surprised?  I found these amazing sticky hooks to hang the wreaths and I have to tell you these are the best invention out there!  Most adhesive hooks will tell you not to use when under 40 degrees but these can be applied to a window in 15 degree weather!  Last night we were hit with an intense wind storm so I was certain I was going to wake up to wreaths either laying in my yard or the neighbor's but they didn't even budge!

Only the second day of December and I am officially done decorating!  Now onto Christmas cards...
