The Home Makeover Reveal...Finally!!!

So two weeks ago I decided it was time for a change.  I needed to slap up a fresh coat of paint and add more color to what was already there.  Deciding on a color for the walls was a process all in itself!  What would I do without Pinterest???  It was there that I discovered Glidden's Wood Smoke.  So out with the sage green and yellowish gold, in with the gray!  All I can say is I LOVE it!!!  I was able to incorporate my two favorite colors: turquoise and yellow.  You wouldn't think gray would be bright and refreshing, but let me tell you friends, it does just that with bright accents, especially up against white!

Here is the BEFORE picture of what my kitchen looked like.  I didn't mind the look but it wasn't jumping out at me saying "c'mon in and have a cup of coffee!"

Here is the AFTER!

My mom made this fabulous sign that
went perfectly with the new colors!

I used cloth napkins for the kitchen
curtain!  Found these at Target.

I love these little plates, also found
at Target.

My husband and I like to collect unique
growlers from local breweries.  The one
on the right from Bi-Plane Brewery
just happened to match the new decor!
The other growler is from
Great Northern Brewing Co.

The wine set was my mom's that
was given to her by my grandma.
With the old color on the wall
you could never see it, but with
the fun yellow mirror from
Target behind it, it really
stands out!

Here is the BEFORE picture of our dining area.

AFTER...
These curtains are actually tablecloths!
Thanks to Simple Home Stuff blog,
I found that you don't have to pay
hundreds of dollars for new
curtains!  I found the white ones at
Target for only $15.99 each!
These white curtains are perfect for
privacy, while still allowing a significant
amount of light in so that it
does not close down the room.

My favorite part of the makeover is the living room!

Here is the BEFORE of the fireplace...

AFTER...
It wasn't in the plans to paint the
fireplace white, but after painting the
walls, the room was still missing
something.  I'm so happy I did!
I LOVE IT!!!
The yellow print curtains are
tablecloths from Target for only
$15.99 each!

Notice the red lamp shade in
the "before" picture?  It's the same
lamp in the "after" picture, just
painted gray!  So much cheaper
than buying a new shade.  Thank
you Mom for talking me into it!

I bought acrylic paint from
Joann's Fabric.  One bottle
was enough for one coat.
It did take two coats!

I found the antlers at Fred Meyer.
The rest was found either at Target,
Joann's, or Kohls.

The t.v. wall BEFORE...

And AFTER...
The old oak fireplace didn't
compliment the t.v. stand
or end tables until I
painted it white!

I made sure I took my time deciding
on the placement of the wall decor.
Again, thanks to Pinterest for so
many great ideas!  I highly
recommend laying it all out
on a floor, arrange to your
liking, then take a picture
so you have an exact layout
to go by.

I love this antique clock that I
found at Hobby Lobby.

The big accent wall BEFORE...

AFTER...
The round clock was a brown rust color
that used to hang above the fireplace.
My mom thought it would look great if I
painted it turquoise to give the room
more color...this woman knows what
she's doing!  Have I mentioned my
mom is a crafty one, and quite amazing!

This is what it looked like just as I
started to paint it the new color.

Not only did it save me a
significant amount of money,
but I had a great time turning
old into new!

I painted the lamp shade the
same color as the clock.
The birdcage was purchased at
Ross.  The books were my great
grandmother's and the pocket
watch belonged to my
husband's grandpa.  I have to
say I've enjoyed finding eclectic
and memorable items to use as
part of my decor!

Last, but not least is the wall next to the kitchen.  My mom made the amazing sign out of pallet boards and old shingles for the candle holders.  Now you agree with me she's pretty amazing!

I found these little stools at Target
for only $5 on clearance so I bought
three!  To add a little color I pinned
these chevron strips onto the sides.
These cool little accents were found
at Fred Meyer!

And there you have it!  A two week project well worth it!  Now on to the rest of the house!  Next week I will start working on the dining room, formal room and front entrance.
Let me know what you think!!!  If you have any questions about paint color, tutorials, or items purchased leave your questions at the bottom!

Happy Friday everyone and have a fabulous weekend!
